LOUISVILLE, Ky -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police said he shot a man who owned him $20 while the man was walking to his mailbox.
According to police, Anthony Barker shot Gerald Ford outside Ford's home on Bolling Avenue March 22. Police report Barker walked up to Ford, demanded the $20 he let Ford borrow six months before and punched him in his face.
That's when, according to police, Barker shot Ford two times in his upper body. Barker and an unidentified woman walked away from the scene.
Police said Ford was able to go inside his home for help and was rushed to University of Louisville Hospital to undergo emergency surgery. Police said the injuries he sustained were life threatening.
Ford and Barker had known each other for five years before the shooting.
Anthony Barker is now charged with assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
